Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop.

The stories in this section are (mostly) of the interactive variety; you have choices to make, and your choices determine the outcome of the story. Unlike the books of this genre, however, these stories also change based on where you have been. For example, in Shadow Flight: Haunted House, you choose two of four items to take with you. Your options once in the house will depend on what you carry.
Also, in some cases the story's response to a choice may be random. For example, in Shadow Flight: Haunted House, at certain points of the story you may hear the piano suddenly begin playing - even when you are in a different part of the house. This will enable options allowing you to investigate who - or what - is playing the piano. If you dare...
The stories are all original in the sense that they were conceptualized and written by me, in many cases using a pre-world wide web hypertext browser I wrote for DOS back in 1991 (if I had only known, I could have been Rich and Famous!). This browser, called George's Adventure Kit (GAK for short), is still my favorite means to write multi-path stories. More about GAK when I have more time to write.
Distribution of these stories is controlled by the same license as other materials on this site.
The usual bookmarks that your web browser supports will work with these stories. You might bookmark before selecting a dangerous option, or after you've been involved for a while. This allows you to go back to where you were and try a different path. You can also feel free to use your browser's Back button, even going back many pages. All of your choices since that page will be faithfully undone. (This makes it much easier to explore alternate paths than the book variety of multi-path story!)
If you've written a story you'd like to share, please send it to me. If possible, I will translate it into a format compatible with my site and publish it under your copyright. You'll have to agree to the same license as the rest of this site, of course.
