Jamie opened her eyes and stretched her body as far as it would stretch. She blinked at the light streaming in the window. "It's MORNING," she though happily, as she munched on a bit of carrot.
After a quick drink of water, Jamie peered around the room. "I don't see Lucy," she thought, "which is just as well. After sleeping late in the morning, I'm ALWAYS in the mood for an adventure!"
Jamie examined the door to her cage. Lucy had twisted a small wire through the latch so that Jamie couldn't open her door and go exploring. "Oh, good, a CHALLENGE!" Jamie thought about the wire a moment, then set to work with her teeth. She gnawed, tugged, bit, and scratched at the wire with enthusiasm, ate a kernel of corn, then gnawed some more. FINALLY, the wire broke with a "TwaNG" and Jamie was free.
After sliding down the tablecloth to the floor, Jamie looked around. The door to the living room was open; it always had lots of furniture in it to climb and explore. The bathroom door was also open, but just a crack. She knew the bathroom would have lots of towels for jumping and playing.
