You open the door and discover not another room but shelf after shelf after shelf. This is the pantry! Most of the food has rotted or been eaten by rats (* shudder *), but a few home-canning jars of food (jelly?) remain.

Holding the light closer to the opening, you see what looks like a cookie jar near the back, covered with cobwebs. Ignoring the squeamish pit in your stomach, you reach in and remove the top. Something glistens inside.

Pulling the cookie jar to the front, you peer intently inside. Coins! A handful of old, dusty coins rests dolefully on the bottom. You pull out an old dollar and look at the date. Is an 1884 coin worth any money nowadays? You bet!

You slip the coins into your pocket and look around the kitchen.

The kitchen is well-lit through the many dusty windows on the north and west walls. Below the windows are countertops; drawers and cabinet doors cover the panels below. An old water pump beside a rusted bucket guards the west counter, its spigot pointing toward a sink. A gas heater is flanked by two doors on the south wall; a third door is in the east wall. An old wood-burning stove stands in the northeast corner.

Look around again.

Wait here until morning and hope nothing happens...

Search the cabinets and drawers under the sink.

Try to pump water into the sink.

Turn on the gas heater.

Pass through the east door into the dining room.

Pass through the door to the right of the heater.
