As you begin to ascend the staircase, the house creaks and groans in protest. You pause about halfway to the top, unsure if you should continue or climb back down.
Suddenly, the decision is made for you as the staircase collapses. You hear a loud WHACK as something very large and very heavy hits your helmet. At last the wild ride comes to an end, and you find yourself partially buried in what used to be the staircase.
The room is filled with dust as you struggle out from under the debris.
The hallway is long and narrow; moonlight streams through dust-covered windows on the west wall. Doors open to the north, south, and east. Against the south wall lies a pile of rubble, the remains of the old staircase (you silently thank God for the helmet you selected!).
