Shaped for Joyful LivingAim: To encourage joyful living based on faith that God watches over us and always keeps His promises Core Competency: Joy Objectives: The children will
Key Verse: Be joyful always. ( 1 Thessalonians 5:16 ) Story: "Sarah Laughs Twice " ( Genesis 21 ) Materials Required:
Eye on Science: Place the water in the bowl. Ask the children if pennies wrapped in aluminum foil will float (take a vote). Announce that both groups are correct! Wrap 5 pennies tightly in aluminum foil, and place in the water (sinks like a rock). This represents Christians who are "all wrapped up in themselves", and thus miss out on the joy of their salvation. Shape a piece of aluminum foil like a boat, and place 5 pennies inside. Place the boat on the water - it floats "on a sea of happiness". This represents a Christian who has allowed God to mold his life to God's will. Rather than trying to "get happy", this Christian has faith that God will watch over him and keep His promises to provide for all our needs. Used: KIDZ 06/99 |
