Pre-Flight Check-In at DFW
For many years, we have promised the kids we'd take a "trip of a lifetime" before the oldest (Carol) graduated from high school. She graduates this year, so it was time to put up or shut up. We saved our pennies for a couple of years, then begin to plan.
The original concept was to cruise the Hawaiian Islands, but September 11 put those cruise ships out of business. While casting about for another approach, Janet mentioned the possibility of touring Europe instead. The kids were very excited, and so the plan was set.
We arrived at the airport about 3 hours early (our friend, Carl Dey, graciously providing transportation). The line to check our luggage and pass through security was surprisingly short and quick.
Notice the large suitcases beside Janet and Carol. This was a lesson we would all learn exceptionally well over the coming two weeks - "When traveling to Europe, pack light!
